About Sarah

Sarah is the face behind 'The House With the Blue Door'. She's an artist and writer as well as the creator of soulful art journaling techniques and workshops.

'The House With The Blue Door' is the name of her quirky wooden chalet on the Humberston Fitties in Cleethorpes.

Sarah has worked as a teacher, lecturer and journalist, but in September 2020 when she was made redundant, realised that she’d been given the perfect opportunity to do what she wanted to do her entire life; work as an artist.

Everything Sarah did in her working career is now informing her artistic practice. Sarah's work is based around sketchbooks, watercolours and ink.

Sarah learned calligraphy when she was child and ink pens inform her style and her writing – She loves adding a calligraphic flourish to her paintings!

Sarah also enjoys collecting her work together in book form, which she did with her 'Cleethorpes Sketchbook' – a collection of paintings and sea-inspired quotes that celebrate the beauty of this part of the north-east coast.
